Himpel Hardware was first opened in 1974 by Bo & Ona Himpel. At the time, the storefront and warehouse were approximately 5,000 sq. ft. Charlie & Sheri Ussery took over ownership in 1983, and since then, it has grown to over 17,000 sq. ft. Currently, the store is owned and operated by Tonganoxie and Basehor, KS natives Joe and Brooke Park.

Himpel Hardware offers services such as screen/window repair, key cutting, free local delivery, and products including lumber, hardware, paint, and a wide variety of building materials. The store, located at 415 Pleasant St. in Tonganoxie, offers friendly customer service, competitive pricing, and a variety of products for home and commercial needs.
